Help complete Jim and Shauna’s love story.

Hello everyone,

I am setting this up on behalf of Shauna Hollet Hodges. Recently her husband, Jim Hodges, lost his stoic nine year battle with cancer. As many of you may unfortunately know the cost of funerals and memorial services, burial or cremation, and all of the incidentals of honoring the life of an amazing husband, son, brother, friend, colleague, and more can be daunting. Especially after years of medical costs. Before I lose you let me paint a quick picture if you didn’t know Jim or Shauna and the love they had for each other while he was facing his mortality. Shauna met Jim and fell in love even though she knew what he faced and that it may cut their time short. She opened her heart and Jim embraced her for it. They lived and loved each other every moment knowing that time was a precious gift that could run out. Jim was full of life with her around even when his life was slipping away. She was by his side and lovingly supporting him through chemo, through surgeries, through agonizing bouts of pain and sickness from radiation, and during long hospital stays when his body betrayed his will to get up and go on more adventures with the love of his life. She held his hand, smiled patiently, and comforted him in a way he needed most. When his life began to slip over the edge she was there. Holding his hand, stroking his cheek, kissing his forehead, whispering to him that it was all going to be ok. I witnessed this. I saw how it helped him. He reached out many times for her hand and he exuded peace when he found it. He told her over and over how he loved her. And she returned that love until he transitioned into his next life. She supported him through it all with love, dignity, and grace. Even as her heart was breaking with impending loss knowing she couldn’t physically save Jim, she loved and supported him. And that saved him. That made him whole despite the cancer tearing his body apart. Shauna did for Jim what we all wanted to do. She did for Jim what his kind spirit and generous heart did for everyone he knew. She made him happy. To thank her I want to do what my friend Jim would do for my family if I had passed before him…support Shauna in this tragic time so she is free to focus on healing. It’s whatJim would have wanted. It’s how their love story should be honored. Thanks for any support you can offer. God bless and keep you healthy and safe.
