Help Shaver Stable Recover from Creek Fire
Shaver Stables has provided an incredible experience to so many visitors every summer in a place like no other, Shaver Lake. On Saturday, September 5th at the beginning of a very busy Labor Day weekend, the unimaginable happened without warning. The Creek Fire forced the evacuation of all 17 horses and a mule from Shaver Lake to Auberry Saturday only to be evacuated again in the early hours of Monday morning to safer ground in Clovis.
The Kants who are not only owners but tireless employees of the stables, later tragically lost their house in Tollhouse on 9/8/2020. A home that holds a special place in their heart and has housed many Shaver Stables horses off season.
All of these horses, while safe, have immediate needs that include hay, grain, fly spray, and fly masks to help protect them from the ash and smoke. There were also several acres of fenced pastures, and a barn that were lost that sheltered the animals during the winter.
It’s time to step up and support the amazing horses of Shaver and the gracious hosts that have shared them with you. Let’s all join together during these difficult days to help rebuild the facilities at their home and provide essential supplies to keep the horses cared for. Think of your memories of the Kants and Shaver Stables and make sure they can continue.
