Help Shawn and Angie recover from house fire

Donation protected

Angie Steiner and Shawn Bartle woke up to smoke in their Portland, Oregon apartment at 5:50 on the morning of September 25th, 2021. They quickly realized that the apartment next to theirs was on fire, though the smoke alarms weren't sounding. Luckily, with some quick action from Shawn and Angie, they were able to wake their neighbors and get everyone out to safety.

Unfortunately, the fire, smoke, and water damage was severe and, while their apartment wasn't the main one on fire, the entire building is now uninhabitable. No one can stay in the apartment and Angie and Shawn's belongings are now damaged by severe smoke. (Below is a picture of the smoke that is still stuck to the building days later.)

With them being unable to stay in their apartment and losing a majority of their belongings, Shawn and Angie now find themselves without a home. Though they've been staying in a hotel, the help from the Red Cross is about to dry up and they're unsure what to do from here. They need to stay in the vicinity for a while so they can wait to sift through the wreckage to find anything salvageable.

These donations can help keep them afloat while they look toward their next chapter after such a big loss. Funds will be used for hotel fees, furniture purchases and other replacements for damaged belongings, and for as-yet unknown expenses. All donations will go directly to the couple.

(This fundraiser is being hosted by Trisha Bartle, Shawn Bartle's sister.)
