**UPDATE: Information regarding withdrawal of Gofundme** 
Due to the restrictions on withdrawal for those who are from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, my sister Meredith Boyer Sablan will be the designated "beneficiary" who will be responsible for withdrawing the funds collected on behalf of Shawn Dela Cruz since she is from a state within the United States. Meredith will be the sole authorized beneficiary with permission from Shawn to withdraw the funds from the gofundme and will transfer the funds to Shawn Dela Cruz and his family's medical fund in Saipan.

Anyone who knows Shawn can truly say that this man is one-of-a-kind.  

He is always the first person to help his family and my family with anything they need in a heart beat. The hardest worker who goes the extra mile to get the job done and does everything with passion and sincerity. The sweetest  and most considerate father to our children, who loves them with every ounce of his being.  He is the nicest person who treats everyone with the same respect and is always the first to give a person in need anything he has to offer. A man who never has anything negative to say about another person and always sees others potential for growth.  He is truly the man with the best jokes and always knows how to light up a room. To me, he is the most respectful partner I could have ever asked for and my confidant through all life's ups and downs.

His Journey:

In August 2020, what appeared to be a bump surfaced on Shawn's face. He took the necessary precautions to get it checked and to our surprise, was all in the clear. As months passed, he continued to monitor the growth of this bump and was prescribed antibiotics as most assumed that it was an infection.

As time went by, the bump grew into a cyst which became bigger and more irritated. It was finally in November 2020 that we went to meet with an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Specialist to see if we could get this "cyst" extracted.

And this was the day everything changed. 

We received the news that the "cyst" was more than likely a tumor and indicator of Oral Cancer. 

With heavy, but hopeful hearts... we began his journey.

It was numerous check ups, a biopsy, CT scan, bloodwork, and more. Now we await the results and referral.

While awaiting news from the medical referral of when he will be sent off, a second bump appeared on his cheek right above the first one. 

The time finally came in December 2020 that we met with the local oncologist here who confirmed that Shawn was diagnosed with Stage 4 Oral Cancer. 

Although our hearts are heavy with the news, we feel truly blessed that Shawn is safely in Los Angeles, California at the renowned Keck Medicine of USC to receive the best treatment to fight this disease. 

Shawn is scheduled for surgery to remove the tumor within the coming weeks. Once his operation is completed, he will spend the next few months in recovery and more than likely proceed with other cancer treatments. 

Anyone and everyone knows that one thing is for certain - Shawn will FIGHT this disease with everything in him and he will come back stronger than ever.
