Help Shawn Garrett and his family fight cancer…

If only good things happened to good people we would not need to ask for your help…

Family and friends of Shawn Garrett are still trying to understand why such a great guy like Shawn is having to deal with something as awful as cancer. Shawn was diagnosed in July with gastric cancer. When the tumor was found, it had metastasized to his liver and spine. This is an aggressive type of cancer for which there is currently no cure.

Shawn has started chemotherapy. Hopefully, the chemotherapy will shrink the size of the tumors and reduce Shawn’s pain, increase his appetite and make it possible for Shawn to eat and regain some strength. The chemotherapy will also increase the time that Shawn will have with those he loves and those that love him. Hopefully, that will be a long time.

Shawn is a carpenter, has worked hard all his life and is only two years away from retirement. Many of us have enjoyed his skills and expertise when needed. Shawn has always shown up to help with any project his friends or family needed. He would like nothing more now than to be able to continue working, but the cancer has sapped his energy and the pain has made continuing to work impossible.

Shawn, Julia and their four children: Bailey, Richard, Peyton and Madison are living in Tennessee where Shawn found work that he enjoyed and they were able to create a home for their blended family. Unfortunately, most of us live too far away to show Shawn and his family how much we love them and support them with simple kindnesses.

But, Shawn needs us to show up for him and his family now. Donations to this GoFundMe will show Shawn how much we care. Our goal is to raise $45,000 to help Shawn and Julia as they adjust to the loss of income and increasing medical bills. All funds will go directly to Shawn and Julia to help them with difficult times ahead.
