Yesterday 5/15 her finger was amputated due to skin and tissue not being viable.
WARNING GRAPHIC !
On Thursday, May 9th, Shawn experienced pain in her finger and within 48 hours was airlifted to Louisville where she underwent emergency surgery in an attempt to try to save her finger and hand. A strain of Strep had wreaked havoc on tissue, fat, and blood vessels in her hand and finger. Since that time doctors have done 2 surgeries in an attempt to save her middle finger. Amputation of the middle finger is being diligently evaluated daily and effort are being made to continue to maintain blood supply. She will need additional surgeries, skin graphs, and rehabilitation. Though Shawn works full time it is unknown when she can return to work and use of almost all PTO has left her with financial hardship. Her husband, Tim Finn, is a type 1 diabetic and recently is disabled and now they have to rely on only one fixed income. Funds will assist with medical expenses, future travel, hotel, and income loss.
