Help Shawna get through these tough times!

Hi. My name is Shawna Page. I work for a large nonprofit healthcare organization in Georgia. In August, I received my mandated Covid vaccine and have been sick ever since. I have been out of work on leave since 10/21/2021 and haven’t received any wages since November 28th. Since August, I have had 33 (thirty-three) visits to healthcare providers (ER/telemedicine/urgent care/office visits). My short-term disability paid for November but has been denied December and January due to incomplete limitations cited from my providers. The case is currently being appealed. I was scheduled to have ENT surgery on January 28th; however, I could not have the procedure due to contracting Covid. My husband tested positive on January 25th and, despite quarantine, hand washing, and masking, I succumbed and tested positive on the day of surgery. We have since rescheduled surgery. However, our financial situation is dire. During this time, I was diagnosed with mild obstructive sleep apnea and severe nocturnal hypoxemia requiring a CPAP machine. The machines are on national backorder, and I have been waiting since mid-November for the apparatus which will help tremendously and may be life-changing for me. Our  family has supported me financially as much as possible. I have had no wages coming in for two months, and with my husband missing work with Covid, we are now in desperation mode. I am a mom of 4 amazing children. Three children are grown with children of their own.  I have 6 grandchildren from the grown girls, and have a teenage son still at home. He participates in school sports and his play is jeopardized due to our financial situation. We are not accustomed to not being able to provide for our family. This has been a humbling and eye opening experience for me and my family.

Our insurance deductible was met last year, but since it’s a new year, it’s started over, and we are on the verge of having to cancel the upcoming procedure due to finances.
