Help Sheana's Family Recover from Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sheana and myself and three younger children are currently impacted by Hurricane Helene. We are from Salley, SC. Sewage seeped into our home due to the storm, and we cannot stay due to this unfortunate event. My younger child, Jaxon, has asthma, so this makes it even more unsafe for him. We have been forced to leave our home and are staying temporarily in a hotel.
We have enlisted the help of FEMA; however, the emergency funds to cover immediate needs are very limited and did not last very long. Due to the limited availability of hotels in our area, we have had to travel two hours away in order to have a safe place to live temporarily.
My two younger children are homeschooled, so they were minimally impacted with their education. However, my 13-year-old still attends public school, and I’m having to send money to the people caring for her. Also, to travel on the weekends to pick her up and for medical appointments, the cost to travel is quite a bit. Additionally, we have costs for food, medicine, and other necessities such as bathroom supplies and household needs like laundry detergent and money for the use of laundry machines.
I have limited income since I am disabled, and my social security has already been spent this month to cover the extra expenses we have acquired due to the hurricane.
I am asking for help with travel costs, food, homeschool activities and materials, and other necessities needed while away in a hotel. Any help is greatly appreciated and will help our family tremendously during this troubling time!
Thank you,
