Honoring Shekhar Chapagai: A Beloved Husband & Devoted Father
Dear Friends, Family & Kindhearted Strangers,
With unimaginable grief, I share the heartbreaking news of my husband, Shekhar Chapagai, who was fatally shot and succumbed to gunshot wounds he suffered during the recent mass shooting in New Albany warehouse in Ohio. He was not only my husband and soulmate, but he was also a father of our 5-year-old daughter and soon-to-be-born baby girl.
Born on January 22nd, 1995, in Goldhap refugee camp in eastern Nepal, Shekhar resettled in Colorado in 2009 with his family and had been living in Columbus, Ohio since 2016. Shekhar was the youngest of 4 brothers and 7 sisters. He lived a life full of laughter, love, and generosity. Losing him has left a void that can never be filled, and as I prepare to bring our baby into the world without him by my side, I am faced with overwhelming emotional and financial challenges. He was the rock of our family, always putting us first and working hard to build a future for our children.
Many of you have asked how you can help during this incredibly difficult time. I am humbly setting up this fundraiser to provide stability for our children—covering immediate expenses, future education, and ensuring they have the security their father worked so hard to provide. Every donation, big or small, will help ease the burden as we navigate this painful journey without him.
Please consider sharing this page and keeping us in your prayers. Your kindness, love, and support mean everything to us as we try to find strength in the midst of this tragedy.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
