Help Shelby Beat Cancer for Her Kids
Donation protected
Hi, I am Shelby :) a very outgoing person, fun, single mother.
On 8/31/24, I went into the ER with some very concerning problems. After an ultrasound, CT scan, many blood panels, and a biopsy, answers were starting to become clear. I have a tumor pressing against several nerves. As of 9/3/24, I have been diagnosed with grade 2 renal-cell carcinoma in the uterus, with type 2 clear cell. This is absolutely devastating, but the percentage and treatment options are looking great for me.
My 10-year-old and my 4-year-old both need me in this world. I have overcome so much; growing up in foster care wasn't easy, and I love how it defines me as a mother. Always wanting twice as much as I never had growing up.
This is where I come to ask for help as a single mother. Treatment choices are open, but the main thing is to get the cancer out! On 10/29/24, I am scheduled to undergo surgery to have this cancer taken out. Fingers crossed!
In the meantime, while I will be healing and undergoing a series of chemotherapy, I will be out of work. I would hate to become homeless or lose my car in the process of recovery. A small amount goes a long way when I will be out of work for 4-6 weeks and the holidays are approaching for my little ones.
Also, I ask for help with making a Thanksgiving meal for my kids this year. It is not easy, and as a single mother, I have no idea how I am going to do this. As all of my friends tell me, I am strong; I hope so. Prayers are asked throughout this whole process from everyone and anyone with a higher power.
