Help Shelley Spate Fight Glioblastoma

Our friend, Shelley Spate, was recently diagnosed with Stage-Four Glioblastoma, an aggressive, fast growing brain cancer. Within several days, Shelley went from living her normal, fun, adventurous life, spending much time with her children (Olivia: 34 & Joshua: 38), along with her beautiful grandchildren (Aryanna: 16, Brayden: 13, Cash & Cruise: 6, Blaze: 5 mos.), to having her life completely turned upside down.

Although the prognosis is formidable and extensive, all of us who love her are praying for a medical miracle. Shelley’s treatment calls for daily radiation for one month, along with chemotherapy for six months. Beginning in September, she will begin tumor electric-fields therapy, also known as alternating electric field therapy, which is a type of electromagnetic therapy using low-intensity, intermediate frequency electrical fields to battle her cancer.

Shelley has been a devoted RN for over 30 years. Prior to her diagnosis, Shelley recently took on new employment within a local hospital outpatient unit. Due to unfortunate timing, Shelley has been denied Short-Term-Disability, along with Long-Term-Disability. Undoubtedly, that means most costs will be personally incurred as Shelley overwhelmingly fights for her life in every way. Medical bills, medical travel, special diets, and much more pose an additional financial burden, as she tries to focus with beating this cancer.

Those who know Shelley, know that she is an absolute loving and overly caring friend, boss, sister, aunt, grandmother, and mother. She has an irrepressible spirit that she shares with us all. Her love and kindness are infectious. It is with this love that Shelley is poised to fight for her life, buoyed by the love she shares and is shared with her.

I am hopeful that her financial burden can be eased with the support of all of us. Consider what you can give to make an impactful change for Shelley.
