Help Sheryl, Chris, and Winnie Rebuild After Wildfire

Dear Friends and Family

My wonderful giving sister, Sheryl, and her dear, caring husband, Chris, lost their cherished home in the devastating Altadena Eaton Canyon wildfires in January 2025. Not only did they lose their home but so did Chris' mother, Winnie, who lived in Altadena just a 1/2 a mile from Chris. She lived there for 63 years, the house Chris grew up in.

The fire swept through overnight with very little warning. Sheryl grabbed the dogs, dog beds, food, and 1 extra change of clothes, and drove to Winnie's house to get her to safety. She drove through an apocalyptic experience of trees falling, live power lines falling, broken traffic signals, and chaos. She describes it as a zombie apocalypse toxic waste war zone.

If you know my sister and her husband, their home was a welcome respite for anyone who needed it. Anyone and everyone was invited in with open arms and special care to make all guests feel like family. She recently opened her home to our cousins who moved down from Washington state. Sheryl, Chris, Winnie, and our cousins are all now staying with another cousin's family who live 2 hours south. Sheryl, Chris, and Winnie have lost everything. As you can see in the before and after photos their entire home is gone with only the chimney still standing and oddly her garlic garden survived. Sometimes you have to laugh!

We recognize that so many are dealing with loss at this time. We would honor any funds you could send them to help them. As you can imagine, they need so much. Your contributions will help us through this challenging time. We are seeking support to cover unexpected costs and get back on our feet. These funds will assist with needs that might not be fully covered by other sources of aid, such as insurance.
