Help Olga and Short Street Cakes weather the storm!
Donation protected
In late September 2024, Hurricane Helene caused widespread devastation and loss of life throughout Western North Carolina. More than two weeks later, water service has still not been restored, and many areas lack electricity, internet and cell service, as well as unsafe or impassable roads.
For Olga and her family at Short Street Cakes, this means that all autumn wedding cakes (the busiest season!) birthday cakes, and shop sales are cancelled indefinitely, because without water, the Cake Shop cannot open. Even if the Cake Shop could open, most client events for the season have been cancelled.
However, the bills continue to arrive.
If you have ever enjoyed a cupcake or a conversation at Short Street Cakes, if you know and love Olga and her family, if her cakes have ever made an event in your life more meaningful, you know that the Cake Shop is a special place that has been a part of the Asheville community for almost 20 years.
We are asking that our community come together and support Olga as she has supported so many.
Please donate any amount ($5 is not too small!) to support Olga and her family in literally weathering the storm and keeping the magic of Short Street Cakes alive.
(This fundraiser is organized by Jodi Rhoden, friend of Olga's and founder/former owner of Short Street Cakes. 100% of funds raised will go directly to Olga to support her through this time.)
