Help Salt Lake Shrimp go to Nationals
Donation protected
We are the Salt Lake Shrimp, a Men’s Ultimate Club team from Utah and we qualified for nationals last weekend in Corvallis, Oregon! We are one of only 16 teams in the country that earned their way to San Diego out of the 250 that competed this year. Founded in 2023, we began as a team looking to develop talent in Salt Lake City, but this year, we were fortunate enough to attract talent and commitment from across the state. The combination of last year’s efforts and this year's new Shrimp was enough to secure our spot as the second men’s team from Utah to ever make it to nationals.
We could not be more excited to keep playing frisbee with 25 of our closest friends, but we need your help! Nationals will be the most expensive and logistically challenging tournament we have attended in our short history. It’s a four day tournament in San Diego, CA starting on Thursday October 24th, and finishing Sunday the 27th. We are asking for help to alleviate the costs of bid fees, travel, housing, and anything else along the way.
We expect this tournament to cost just under $20,000 when we include individual player travel, but we don’t expect all of that to be covered by you. We understand that this tournament is a great privilege and plan on using as many of our own resources as possible. We have set the initial goal at $6,500 which will cover the team's entry fee to the tournament and help decrease some of the cost for our young team. Nationals will be a huge step forward in this club’s future and we would love to have you be a part of it.
Before we get down to business, here are some fun facts about this season’s Salt Lake Shrimp so you know a little bit more about who you are helping out:
- We are the youngest team at nationals across all 48 teams in three divisions with an average age of 24.
- Just over half of our team this year is still in college.
- This will be the first trip to club nationals for 21 of us.
- Ben Ashton, Porter Oyler, and Will Selfridge are making their second trip to club nationals on a Utah men’s club team!
- 21 of this year’s Shrimp learned to play ultimate right here in Utah!
- 18 of those 21 learned at a high school program in Utah.
- Those programs include Bingham, Green Canyon, Jordan, Judge, Logan, Lone Peak, Sky View, Riverton, Skyline, Timpview, and West
If you want to make a donation, we have a couple ways to thank you:
Donations of $10-49: Shrimp merch! The next time you see any of us, ask for stickers, keychains, or koozies. If you need something shipped, just reach out, and we’ll make it happen!
Donations of $50-99: Donations of this amount will receive everything above, plus a hand written thank you card from a Shrimp or Shrimps of your choice.
Donations of $100-224: Donors at this level will receive everything above, along with a signed team photo as proof of all of the smiles you helped create in San Diego. We’ll reach out to see if you want it signed by everyone or just your special Shrimp.
Donations of $225+: Thank you for covering one of the 26 players’ bid fee for Nationals! You will receive all of the above, and you can choose your favorite Shrimp or Shrimps to send you a personal thank-you video and give you a firm handshake, a kiss on the cheek, or both! <3
Regardless of whether you choose to donate, we want to say thank you to everyone who believed in your friendly neighborhood Shrimp. Thank you to all our family, friends, teammates from past teams, coaches, and anyone else who cheered us on and supported us this season. Every single person was a key piece in our success this summer, and we want to thank you – we truly couldn't have made it this far without you!
Thank you,
