Siah and I (Merc) are both non-binary, post-college, hard-working millennials who are moving in together this September! We're writers and filmmakers with a passion for art, but we struggle to make ends meet most of the time—sharing living costs will help us both prosper, and we have each other as a mutual support network. <3
Siah works in retail and is on doctor's orders to stick to part time at the moment (from surgery recovery earlier this year and also for managing chronic illnesses)—they have an adorable cat named Barry, write screenplays, are a lighting pro, and love making movies.
Merc is a SFFH writer whose dayjob is AV/hospitality, where they work full-time. Merc's fiction has appeared in multiple venues and anthologies, including several Year's Best collections, and they are an active member in the SFWA.
Best friends since college, Siah and I are finally realizing the goal of moving in together to focus on filmmaking, writing, and art—all while holding down dayjobs that pay the bills.

We both attended The Art Institutes International in Minneapolis, where we graduated with degrees in filmmaking. We've done lots of short film projects together, we've gone on road trips, made documentaries, ate endless pizzas together, and we've even got matching tattoos (Siah's says 'SO SHINY' and Merc's says 'SO CHROME').

Siah is dealing with multiple chronic illnesses (including depression and anxiety, same as me) that prevent them from working full-time, and they need a safe and supportive place to live—which is why we are looking to get an apartment together!
Siah's current living conditions are detrimental to their health; environmentally and emotionally, they are unable to stay at their present location. I work full-time but am unable to have roommates or pets in my apartment, so we need to find a new place for both of us and the cat.

WHAT WE NEED THE $ FOR
We are looking to move in September 2019 (Merc's lease is up in October '19), so we can be settled in before winter. Moving is hard enough, we'd rather not do it in the snow!
The funds we are asking for will help cover a deposit for a new apartment, application fees, pet fee deposit, part of the first month's rent, and moving costs.

We're both creative people, trudging along as best we can, trying to make ends meet. We trust and care about each other deeply; we're platonic best buds and our goals are to help each other improve our mental and physical health! A shared apartment will give us a safe, clean, accommodating space to live—bonus, we can get Barry, Siah's cat, a furry friend in the future. :D

So, once we move in together, what's next?
Well, here are some of our goals:
- Siah will be able to focus on their health and recovery from surgery complications earlier this year.
- Siah can also continue to work on film projects (like editing and script writing) when their health allows without outside stressors.
- Merc will be able to focus more on their writing and editing projects.
- Merc & Siah will both be able to get some sleep more regularly!
- Barry gets lots of cuddles and treats.
