Help McKnight Family after 2 Young Daughters’ Near Drowning

This past weekend there was a serious incident in my family. It involved my nephew Jacob McKnight and his wife Caitlin, and the accident happened to their two young daughters who experienced a near drowning in a family pool. Our family is beyond grateful at the miracles we have already seen in that the girls have survived the near drowning and safely arrived at the local children’s medical center the evening of the traumatic incident. This was primarily because of the heroic actions of their father, their very pregnant mother and their aunt, as well as local paramedics.

After arriving at the children’s medical center and being treated initially in the ER Department, both girls were moved to the pediatric ICU, where each one was placed in their own private room. They are each given round-the-clock specialized, continuously supervised care. Both were initially on multiple life support devices and ventilators. While there has been some progress made, there is still a long road ahead for both girls.

It is anticipated the ICU stay for each will likely be several weeks. There will also be long-term care needs following ICU discharge, as well as many other ongoing trauma care needs for months to come. Additionally, there are housing and travel needs for their parents as this crisis took place out of state. There are many other ancillary needs and anticipated expenses that this family faces. Based upon their father’s preliminary meeting with the hospital social worker and the rough estimate of known costs at this point, projected needs will be at least $50,000-$55,000.

Please prayerfully consider how you may come alongside this precious family at this heart wrenching time, so that they may concentrate on their children’s needs, rather than be bogged down with the burden of raising necessary funds to cover these exorbitant costs.
