Help SIBZ Rebuild: A Pacific Palisades Legacy

My name is Ranya Batal, and my brother Tarik and I are the founders of SIBZ, a date-based snack company rooted in the heart of Pacific Palisades. SIBZ wasn’t just built here—it was born here. Every step of our journey, from making our first batch of date bites at home to achieving our first order, was intertwined with this beloved community.

The Palisades was more than just a backdrop; it was part of who we are. We sold our first products at the farmers market, hosted TikTok shop lives from our living room, and sampled our snacks at the local tennis club where our dad played every day. Tarik’s kids—my nephews, ages 4 and 6—were raised here. This was their home, their neighborhood, and the place we envisioned as the foundation for their future. They’ve lost their home, their school, their karate and dance classes—their entire world.

Our dad also lost his home, the place where he built decades of memories and found joy in this tight-knit community. Our entire family has been displaced, left to rebuild not just a business but the lives and dreams that were rooted in this neighborhood.

I had a key to Tarik’s home, and I’d walk in to work alongside him, brainstorming, packaging, and fulfilling orders. We were neighbors, siblings, and co-founders, and the Palisades was our foundation. The women at the post office celebrated our wins and encouraged us during tough times. Our customers, neighbors, and friends rooted for us, and this community embraced SIBZ as its own.

But now, the place we called home is gone. From our office to our homes, our inventory, and even the spaces that gave us so much inspiration—everything was lost, and unfortunately, our business insurance will not cover any fire or natural disasters. It’s devastating, but what remains is our determination to rebuild.

SIBZ is a Palisades brand through and through. We’ve always strived to create something meaningful, not just for ourselves but for this community we love so deeply. With your support, we will rebuild and show the world the resilience and heart of Pacific Palisades.
