Help Sidney Care for Lori's Beloved Alaskan Malamutes
Donation protected
Lori Hicks of Canandaigua, New York, passed away on November 24, 2024. Lori was a long-time Alaskan Malamute fancier, participating in dog shows and weight pulling. Her longtime partner, Harold, who is 80 years old, is unable to care for her 11 Alaskan Malamutes, ranging in age from one to 14 years old.
Sidney Sachs, another Alaskan Malamute fancier from Spring City, Tennessee, has agreed to take all the dogs to live with her, tend to any medical needs, and after assessment, find suitable homes for each dog. Lori was one of Sidney’s best friends and partner in the dogs, but Sidney was not expecting to have such a big addition of dogs and kennels at her home.
Sidney will need dog transportation to Spring City from Canadagau, New York. Many people have offered to help with loading equipment and dogs, but financial help is desperately needed to cover the expenses.
We need airfare from Knoxville, Tennessee, to Rochester, New York, for one or two other people to assist with the drive back; a U-Haul truck rental to carry the dogs' equipment; Uber from the airport to U-Haul; plus fuel for the drive for the U-Haul and another truck and horse trailer; hotel rooms possibly for one night; and then kennels, gravel, and dog houses at Sidney’s house. Then the dogs will need food, veterinary care to update vaccinations, do health assessments, and cover any fees to legally transfer the dogs into Sidney's care so that she can have them available for their new homes.
We are asking the Alaskan Malamute community to come together and help one of their own and get these dogs to Sidney’s home in Tennessee so that they can go on to the next step in finding their forever homes. All help is appreciated.
