Help Sienna Recover from Traumatic Brain Injury
Donation protected
Two weeks ago, on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, our 3 daughters were involved in a motor vehicle accident on I-12 on their way to Archbishop Hannan where they are in 12th, 10th, and 8th grades. Many thanks to the gentleman who stopped and was able to get Alisha and Kristen out of the car which ended up on its side.
Unfortunately, our 14 year old daughter, Sienna, was ejected through the rear window of the car. Many thanks, too, to the 2 nurses, on their way to work, who stopped and stayed with Sienna until the paramedics arrived.
She was intubated at the crash site and then airlifted from the accident to North Oaks in Hammond. She was then airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans where she remains today.
Sienna sustained serious head injuries and is being treated by an incredibly competent and wonderfully compassionate staff here at UMC.
If all goes well, the doctors are hopeful that Sienna will be transferred to Children’s Hospital ICU. She will have to get 2 more procedures done, a tracheostomy and a gastrostomy. With those 2 procedures, Sienna will no longer require the tubes in her nose and throat. She can be ventilated through the trach, if needed. She can receive her nutrition directly to her stomach.
There are still many unknowns with Sienna’s journey but we remain positive and hopeful for the best outcomes. We want to thank each and every one of you for your continuing love, prayers and support. It means the world to our family.
We created this GoFundMe page to meet the ongoing needs of Sienna. It will be a long haul, but Sienna is strong.
We hesitated to do this because we have never been comfortable accepting handouts, but after speaking with Dr.’s, family, friends, and other parents who have been in our situation we have come to the realization of what we are up against. We are setting up a separate account where all donations will be put into a medical fund to help pay ONLY for Sienna’s medical bills. Please share the link on your social media site. We love and thank you in advance!
