Help Silvia and Don Recover After Eaton Fire

Donation protected
Dear Family, Friends, and Kind Strangers,

My name is Sylvie. I'm here on behalf of my godparents, Silvia and Don, who on the morning of January 8th, 2025, lost their Altadena home in the Eaton Fire.

My godparents are among the most selfless and caring people I know. While anyone else in their circumstance would pack up and load their car with their photo albums, family heirlooms, or extensive Beatles collection, my godparents reached out to their elderly neighbors and prioritized evacuating them. Fortunately, the only neighbor that still needed assistance was their 92-year-old neighbor, Richard. And at 11:48pm on January 7th, all three of them left their Altadena homes, possessions, and memories behind.

My godfather is a retired LAUSD teacher who taught for over 30 years and my godmother works for the LA County Office of Education. They have spent their lifetime giving to their communities and helping the less fortunate. So I stand here before you all, asking to please help them in their time of need.

We are fortunate enough to have secured temporary housing for my godparents, Richard, and his cat, but they will need assistance going forward.

Every cent donated will be used to help and support them with any expenses along the way that FEMA, their insurance, or other disaster relief does not cover. Your help will allow them to take on the many aspects of recovery and support they need through this horrible tragedy.

My godparents and their neighbor lost everything and will thus need to replace everything. So it is with 100% honestly that I say no donation is too small. Any contribution, of any amount, will be greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference. If you are not in a position to donate, please share their story and keep them in your prayers.

Everyday is bittersweet because I am happy that my godparents and Richard are alive, healthy, and safe, but I'm completely distraught at the idea of everything they lost and will never get back. I am confident that together, through prayers and donations, we can help make them whole again.

With a heart full of gratitude,
Sylvie
