Help Single Moms in Recovery Stay Housed -
Terros Health Program

From Colonel (Ret.) Paul Aguirre:
I don’t usually ask like this. But today I’m reaching out—not for myself, but for a group of strong, resilient women who are doing everything right in a world that hasn’t always made it easy for them.
I grew up in a big family raised by a single mom. We scrambled. I know what it means to stretch a dollar and pray that it's enough. I also know the heartbreak of substance use disorder. I’ve lost family to it. It leaves a hole that never fully closes.

Until recently, these moms were receiving a housing subsidy through a COVID-era federal program managed by Terros Health. They pay part of their rent; the program made up the rest. It gave them stability to focus on healing, on parenting, on finding a job or going to school, and on building something better.
In this community of mothers and young children, there are demonstrations of incredible resilience every day. They’re parenting newborns, toddlers, and teens—some juggling recovery, some managing medical needs, some working two jobs or studying for their GED. What unites them is a deep love for their children and a powerful drive to build a better future. But right now, funding cuts threaten to stall that progress just as hope and healing are beginning to take root.
But that funding was just pulled. No warning. No transition plan.

The federal government is clawing back pandemic funds, working to root out fraud, waste, and abuse. And they’ve acknowledged that sometimes, mistakes will be made along the way. This? This is one of those mistakes.

A small, effective program supporting moms in recovery got swept up in a broader effort. It wasn’t targeted. But the result is the same: unless we raise $60,000, these families could lose their housing. That $60K bridges the gap through September.
And here's the thing—rent is due for April. These women are on the edge of losing the stability they’ve worked so hard to build.
This isn’t about blame. It’s about stepping up where the system stumbled. It’s about keeping moms and kids together, housed, and moving forward.

If you can help—thank you. If you can share—thank you. All funds will go directly to Terros Health who will use to pay rent for the women in the program.

I personally am not related to anyone at Terros but am working with their CEO Karen Hoffman Tepper and Finance Department (Megan Pocock) to transfer all funds donated.

With respect and hope,

Colonel (Ret.) Paul R. Aguirre
