Help Sister Michael's Day-Care Stay Open Year-Round

Donation protected
After meeting the underprivileged children of Sister Michael’s Day-Care, open for children with working single mothers, and seeing their living situation, I was touched deeply. There are 24 kids with their ages ranging from 2 to 5 years. The daycare offers 3 meals a day, a place to rest, and places to play. Sister Michael has worked hard to provide the children with what they need; however, a program of this magnitude takes many volunteers and contributions. Unfortunately, they receive meat once a month and have access to very little milk. They all nap together on soiled mattresses stuffed inside a concrete room with no windows. Most importantly, during the rainy winter season, the roads become impassable for people and vehicles, which causes the Day-Care to close temporarily. The Day-Care is in need of many upgrades. However, the most essential need is ensuring all these children have a safe place to dwell. With the Day-Care’s closing, most of these children will not be receiving proper meals, clothing, or necessities for over a month. For this reason, we will make it a priority to improve the road/pathway by directing all funds toward it. By accomplishing this, the children and their mothers will have access to this Day-Care year-round, preventing the mothers from having to resort to giving up their kids in order to work. These children deserve the sanctuary Sister Michael’s Day-Care offers. Without it, their basic needs are not guaranteed.

This trip really shifted my perspective on service. Even through their living situations, these children radiate nothing but joy. The flies picking at their wounds hardly faze them, and their laughter, echoing daily, shows their appreciation for the care they receive at Sister Michael’s. The most important way I seem to have helped them was just being there; playing tag, peek-a-boo, and singing songs. These children deserve a place where they feel loved and free. For this reason, please consider helping to make Sister Michael’s Day-Care accessible year-round. Any donation would be greatly appreciated to fund this project. Our goal is $5,000.
