Dear Friends,

With a heart full of grief, I share the unimaginable loss of my beloved father, Shiva, who passed away far too soon at the age of 55 in Centreville, Virginia.

On April 19th, 2025, my father suffered a sudden and severe stroke. Despite every life-saving effort, he passed away peacefully at home at 3:31 PM. His absence has left a deep and painful void in our lives that words can barely begin to express.

My father was everything to us—more than just a husband and a dad. He was the heart of our family. A loving husband to my mother, a devoted father to me and my younger sister, a kind son, a caring brother, and a friend who brought light into every room. His warmth, strength, and constant positivity touched everyone he met. Even during his hardest days, Appa found ways to lift others with his kindness, humor, and compassion.

My appa has been an active member of Tamil community organizations (Virginia Tamil Sangam, Valluvan Tamil Academy to name a few). Everyone who knows him testifies his tireless efforts and dedication in organizing and helping the events by these organizations. He gave equal priority as his work and family to the welfare of the Tamil Community in and around the Virginia area.

We are creating this fund in loving memory of our father, to help our family navigate life without him. Your contributions will go toward covering funeral and legal expenses, as well as supporting my sister’s education; something that meant the world to him. She is currently pursuing her dream of becoming an engineer at George Mason University. As an international student, the financial burden is immense, and it has only grown heavier in his absence. Our family’s immigration status adds further uncertainty—our mother is here on a H-1B visa, and my sister’s F-1 student visa is tied directly to her full-time studies. Losing the primary pillar of our family not only leaves us emotionally shattered but also intensifies our vulnerability in this country.

Your support will help ease this hardship and allow her to continue her studies, carrying forward the dreams our father had for her.
