Help Skoden Coffee Find A Permanent Home!

Ya'at'eeh! (Hello)
We are Skoden Coffee! A queer Indigenous coffee shop on O'Odham and Piipaash territory (Phoenix, AZ). Skoden Coffee was born in Window Rock, AZ on the Navajo Nation. After a seven month run, we were forced to leave the reservation due to issues with our landlord. We were mobile for a few months until we were offered to take over Kreme Coffee at 5102 N. Central Ave inside Shop for the People on December 4th of 2023. In our short existence, we have proven to be more than a coffee collective; we truly advocate for human rights. Due to our unwavering support for oppressed communities (much like our own), we have time and again been subjected to being silenced.
As of this upcoming May 16, 2024 we do have to vacate our current lease due to internal issues. Nonetheless, we also do not find our current lease in line with our values. We want to find a safer place of business where we can be our authentic selves and hold space for queer Indigenous joy, gathering, teaching events, and more.
We are asking for $20,000 and the funds will be used as follows:
-First months rent
-New lease deposit
-First months utilities (power, water, internet)
-Moving costs to the new space (truck rental, hired assistance)
-Any initial renovations that may be needed to our new space (plumbing, kitchen, decor)
-The cart that we are currently using is not ours, so the rest of the funds would be put towards purchasing a brand new coffee cart (if one is needed depending on the space we find).
Please help us continue to be a strong hold in our community.
Ahéhee (thank you).
