Help Skyler Fountaine with Medical Expenses!

On Sunday, April 10, 2022, Skyler Fountaine, a good buddy of mine, was headed out with a group of friends for our last snowmobile ride of the season up North when Skyler’s ride ended before it ever got started. He was tooling around in the parking lot waiting for everyone, and like a thousand other times, he wheelied over a snowbank and the sled kicked out and they both went tumbling with the machine landing on top of him. He was immediately brought to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and was diagnosed with multiple spinal fractures in his upper and lower back; needing immediate surgery he was not stable enough to be transferred to Aspirus in Wausau WI. He was transferred by ambulance to UP Health Systems in Marquette MI where shortly after arrival he was prepped for what they anticipated would be a long surgery to remove all the bone fragments and fuse the fractures in his lower back and placed a fixation device to stable L1-L3. Surgery was considered a success and Skyler spent a week in ICU and remains in-house at Marquette General. He has a long recovery road ahead of him which includes in-house and out-patient therapy.
Skyler does not have medical insurance, and his job is physically demanding. He will be out of work for the foreseeable future. Skyler is also a volunteer firefighter and is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. We are asking that the community, both near and far, rally together and help cover the medical expenses incurred to allow him to focus on healing.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated; looking for an alternative donation option please reach out to me directly via Facebook and/or texting.
Thank you,
James Marietta
Update, 21 April 2022: Skyler was discharged today and has a very long road to recovery. Without health insurance, they wanted him out of the hospital ASAP. With that being said, he’s still in pretty rough shape. They have his pain under control for the most part, but after the car ride home he was hurting pretty bad. He is able to walk on his own again so that’s a huge step forward. He’s a slow moving unit for sure but he’s a fighter and will continue to get better daily. I ask to please share again and make a donation if your able. Thanks everyone for the support this far.
