Help SLHV Retain Privileges at SSM Hospitals
Donation protected
Many of you may be following the recent developments between St. Louis Heart and Vascular (SLHV) and SSM DePaul & SSM St. Joseph Hospitals in St. Charles and Lake St. Louis. The St. Louis Post Dispatch covered this in their April 1, 2021 article:
Cardiology group says SSM Health driving away patients
SSM has terminated the entire SLHV group's CARDIOLOGY privileges at their hospitals as of April 2, 2021. SSM states that this administrative action is not related to the quality of care by SLHV. They have created an internal group of their own doctors who are the ONLY ones who will be seeing any patients with cardiac or vascular issues. You may prefer the ER to consult one of the SLHV doctors to see your patients, however only the internal SSM group will be consulted.
We know you think this is wrong and puts patients, at best, in an awkward predicament. At worst, this puts SSM between a patient and their long-time cardiologist.
We ask you -- our colleagues and partners in our mutual patients’ healthcare -- to aid in what is a very expensive fight with corporate medicine (David vs. Goliath) that affects all physicians, whether employed or private practice.
