Help Slouch Tattoo Studio Transition after Helene

Slouch is a tattoo studio and art space currently located in Weaverville, NC that has been detrimentally affected by Hurricane Helene. The building we have called home since opening 3 years ago is no longer fit for use and we are needing to relocate. We are asking for help to make this transition possible.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT US:

We are in our third year of being part of the WNC art community. We are home to 10 self-taught and licensed tattoo artists who have all had a significant loss of income since Hurricane Helene. We are a tattoo shop, but we are also an art space that values giving local artists a platform to show and sell their work. We have rotating art from WNC artists for sale in our lobby, and we use our space to showcase artists on a larger level as well. Since we opened in 2021, we have hosted community art exhibitions, art exhibitions of WNC artists, local musicians, experimental shows, workshops, and fundraisers. We are artist owned and artist ran, and we first and foremost want to champion and support creativity in our community.

OUR NEEDS:

Our building has too much mold and water damage for us to continue to work safely. We plan to relocate and reopen ASAP. The sooner we can make this happen, the sooner our artists can begin to work again, and the sooner we can start hosting community-focused art events in our space.

We are actively looking for the perfect space, and are moving out of our current building this month. During this transition, our 10 artists will *continue* to experience loss of income. We need to raise money to help secure a new space, help with moving expenses, AND help with our artists' unemployment (most of us are not eligible for government assistance).

We have been and will continue to do other forms of fundraising, as well as apply for grants, but right now we are hoping for $5,000 to keep us going.
