Help Sluggo Become a Good Boy!
Donation protected
Hey y'all, my name is Sarah and I am fundraising to help get my dog Sluggo get some extensive behavioral training.
I adopted Sluggo in May of 2023. He was unfortunately being re-homed on craigslist by a family from Michigan. The mother of the family informed me that they were too busy to continue with his care and thus needed to find him a good home. I gladly obliged as I had newly begun to work from home and had more than ample time to spend with him and care for him. The family had ensured that he was very well behaved and playful but ultimately they could no longer keep up with him.
After a few months of living with him, I've learned that Sluggo struggles with deep behavioral issues. As he is a Covid-baby, he seems to have had very little socialization outside of his family and especially with other dogs. He tends to be aggressive and distrustful of other dogs. He also struggles with anxiety and fearfulness that may have been caused by the trauma of being abandoned by his first family.
Sluggo has drastically enriched my life and I would love for his life to be as enriched as mine. He is extremely active and playful and would benefit from time with peers. He is currently unable to go to dog parks, daycare or on playdates as he is just too rough with other dogs. While I can provide him love, care and play, I am unable to help him on a psycho-social level on my own and need professional help for him. I also am planning to pursue my Masters in Social Work in the fall of 2024 and would love to be able to enroll him in daycare while at school and work in the future. I think Sluggo would greatly benefit from a daycare and training program so that he can spend the day expending energy and learning. With his aggression issues I am unable to take him to group training lessons and need to seek out a more individualized education. I am currently not in a place financially to afford this kind of training without community support. If you have the ability to help me and my dog-child it would really mean a lot!
