HELP SMALL TOWN GIRL ACHIEVE INTERNATIONAL DREAM

Alexis Lipe (Alex), 17, is part of The American Ballroom Company’s Dancesport Team in Canton, NC. Alex has been a dancesport competitor for 2 years and has won numerous top placings as well as multiple top junior titles and now multiple top youth titles during that short time. If you're unsure of what dancesport is, it is competitive ballroom dancing (Think Dancing With The Stars).

Alex is a former competitive gymnast that found competitive ballroom dancing after a career ending injury in gymnastics. After recovering from a severe spinal injury, Alex completed her final competitive gymnastic season, making it to the state championships. She took some time off to heal further and then cheered for her high school JV cheer team, helping them win another state championship. She then found ballroom dancing and has put her all into becoming the best dancer she can be. Alex has accomplished more than most in her short time dancing. She has an unbeatable drive to improve and is determined to become a professional dancesport competitor.

Alex is the only junior ballroom champion in Western North Carolina and has aspirations to become a professional dancesport competitor, traveling the world for dance competitions and turning her passion into a purposeful career. She is currently training for her next competition, the Heritage Dance Classic, a National-level Competition held in Charlotte, NC in March of 2022. Her goal is to get to the United States Dance Championship by 2023, with many competitions between the two. She is also looking for a dance partner. The more titles she accumulates, the easier it will be to find a partner her age, as it requires international advertising and, most likely, the relocation of one partner.

Alex is in need of sponsors and donors to help her get where she wants to be. The cost for training, travel, costuming, competitions and all that goes with it at this level is a heavy burden on her mom. Talent and drive like this needs to be encouraged and allowed to flourish, not punished due to financial strain.
