Help Solomon Breathe Again
Donation protected
Before you read any further I want to ask you to take a deep breath in and out through your nose. How did that feel? Calming? Refreshing? Restorative?
How many of us take for granted the simple ability to breathe?
With mask mandates growing due to Covid-19 more and more of us can relate to the struggle to breathe when airflow is restricted but for Solomon the mask doubles his burden.
Think back to that breath you took in and out your nose and imagine not being able to do that simple and vital action. It is very much like having a terrible sinus cold or infection but all day every day even in perfect health. That is what Solomon has been living with as a result of nasal polyps blocking his sinuses.
As a singer, dancer and performer extraordinaire, his ability to breathe clearly is vital not just for life but for livelihood and with the closures in the cruise and entertainment industry as a result of Covid-19 wiping out his entire year of income he is at an impasse. In order to get back to work he must be able to breathe but in order to breathe he requires costly polyp removal surgery.
Being a self-employed entertainer means that he does not qualify for unemployment (believe me we have been denied in 2 states) and the Covid relieve loan he qualified for didn't even cover one month of living expenses. With bills mounting and nothing coming in we are desperate to find a way to get him the surgery that he so desperately needs so that when the world opens back up he can make music in it again.
To add to the urgency, if Solomon were to contract Covid-19 he would be in the high risk category and we fear that if he were to be hospitalized he would not make it out of there alive. The likelihood of having his mouth covered or needing a vent is very high and as an asthmatic a ventilator could cause irreparable damage to his lungs or even death. Though he is in excellent health otherwise, his asthma and polyps are the perfect storm to lower his odds should he contract the virus.
In 2017 he had the surgery to remove the polyps once and they were so bad he needed reconstructive surgery of his sinus cavity as well which had been deformed from the pressure of the polyps on the bone. We are trying desperately to avoid that level of damage again and the sooner he can get the surgery the better chance he will have all around.
This GoFundMe is truly a last resort effort to get Solomon the help that he needs. Anything you can do is unbelievably helpful and so greatly appreciated.
We know so many are struggling in this time and hope that as a community of compassionate humans we can join together to help one another like never before.
Thank you so much for your care and support. It means more than you will ever know.
