Help Solve Rivian's Set-Speed Issue with Openpilot
Donation protected
Introduction
The Openpilot community is built on collaboration and innovation, constantly working to expand the reach of this powerful open-source driver assistance system. However, one major challenge is preventing Rivian vehicles from fully integrating with Openpilot—the set-speed issue.
Comma has offered a $1,000 bounty for a solution, but we believe this problem deserves even greater incentive. That’s why we’re creating this GoFundMe bounty to further reward the developer who successfully solves the set-speed issue and unlocks Openpilot’s full potential for Rivian owners.
Why This Matters
The set-speed issue prevents Openpilot from properly adjusting and maintaining vehicle speed on Rivian models, significantly limiting functionality. Without a fix, Rivian owners are unable to experience the full benefits of Openpilot’s advanced driver assistance system.
By increasing the bounty, we aim to attract skilled developers who can tackle this technical hurdle and finally bring Openpilot support to Rivian vehicles. Every contribution—big or small—helps create a compelling reward that could lead to a breakthrough.
How the Funds Will Be Used
- 100% of the funds raised will be awarded to the first developer who successfully solves the set-speed issue such that longitudinal control is functional on stock Openpilot or a fork of Openpilot. This may include the requirement of a new harness, provided it remains cost-effective and can be installed by the end user with minimal complexity.
- Bounty will be paid out once longitudinal control is available to Gen 1 Rivians either in stock Openpilot or via an Openpilot fork, and harnesses have begun shipping to end users.
