Help Sophia and Bernard recover from Hurricane Helene

Hi everyone,

My name is Joy and I currently reside in the Houston, TX area. Sophia and I went to grad school together in Indianapolis and quickly became lifelong friends, including being a bridesmaid in my wedding. Despite any distance between us, we have remained close friends, and I know that I can count on her for anything. I know if I were ever to experience a tragedy or emergency, Sophia would be the first person to rally support on our behalf. It is now my turn to do the same for her.

Recently, Sophia, her husband Bernard Swierzbinski, and their two amazing boys lost everything as a result of Hurricane Helene. They live in beautiful St. Petersburg, FL. Storm surge resulted in two feet of saltwater flooding their house and flooding their cars, and high winds caused minor roof damage. Along with having to gut and repair their entire house and replace their vehicles, they also lost all of their furniture and belongings, including toys and clothes for their young boys. In addition to repairing their home and replacing all that has been destroyed, they will need to find a rental house for a safe place to stay while their house is repaired.

We wanted to create a place where we could raise some funds to help them offset all the costs associated with their recovery from this devastating storm. The funds will go toward repairing their home, replacing their furniture and belongings, and helping to pay for additional lodging as their house is repaired, Thank you to everyone who has come to read their story and for anyone who is able to sponsor and support.
