Help Sophia and her Service Dog

Hi, my name is Julie Cote. I am requesting your help in order to raise $24,000 for a trained service dog for my daughter, Sophia.

Sophia endured unimaginable, life-altering trauma as a child that resulted in severe psychiatric diagnoses. Due to the trauma, Sophia is unable to live a normal life and do all the things teenage girls usually do. Her amazing healthcare team and I have tried everything imaginable to help her, with limited success so far. They have determined that she requires the use of a service dog.

The service dog requires highly specialized training to assist Sophia with her specific needs. We are working with a credible organization called Searchlight Service Dogs in Barrie, Ontario to obtain the dog. They have been absolutely incredible to work with and definitely have Sophia’s best interests at heart. Their process requires us to raise a total of $24,000 to cover the costs of the dog and his individualized training as well as Sophia’s handler training and other administration costs. And of course there will be many additional ongoing costs associated with the dog and his care.

Many of you know the unbearable pain of watching your child suffer and trying everything to help ease their pain. If you are able to donate any amount to this fund, you will be helping to change an incredible young girl’s life for the better.

Sophia is a talented, intelligent, caring, empathetic 16-year-old. She loves to paint, sing, play piano, and read. She wants to become a psychologist so that she can help others.
