My name is Soraya. Two days ago, an earthquake turned my entire life upside down.

Now I am alone, lying in a hospital bed. Both my legs are broken and my ribs are fractured. I cannot move.

But the pain in my body is nothing compared to what is breaking me inside.

Two days ago, a double earthquake struck Playa Grande, Venezuela. My building collapsed.

I was trapped inside for hours.

My neighbors, just ordinary people with no special equipment or training, only courage, found me. They pulled me out with their own hands, and in their effort to free me, they had to throw me. The fall made my injuries worse. I was left lying on the ground, losing a lot of blood from my leg wounds.
There were no ambulances. No emergency services. The only ones who took me in were a private clinic. I arrived there with nothing—no money, no documents, no home to return to.

Her name is Katherine, my warrior daughter. She lived very close to me, in the Oasis Beach building. That building also collapsed. She was not as lucky as I was; she has been missing for two days.
There are no rescue teams, no firefighters, no official search operation. Only neighbors, digging with their hands, praying.

I am in this bed, unable to move, unable to go search for her, not knowing if she is alive, if she is waiting for someone to find her, or if she is no longer here.

She is all I have nearby, and I cannot reach her.

What I need:

I lost my home and everything in it. I have only my hospital gown and fear in my heart.

This is how every dollar will be used:

• Medical care and hospitalization — $3,500 (The private clinic that took me in saved my life. I have no way to repay them.)
• Medical transport and rehabilitation — $1,500 (With broken legs and no public ambulances, every transfer has a cost.)
• Basic needs — $1,000 (I have no clothes, no phone, no documents, nothing.)
• Search support — $1,000 (To help the neighbors who are searching for my daughter keep going.)

Total: $7,000

Why am I asking strangers for help?

Because I have no one else left.
In Venezuela, the government does not show up, the rescuers do not arrive, the system does not work.

What does work—because it always has—is people helping people. I am not asking you to fix what happened. I am asking you to help me survive what comes next, to pay those who saved me, to be able to stand up again.

So I can go look for my daughter.

Soraya Sobrevivió el Terremoto en Venezuela — Ayúdala a Recuperarse y Encontrar a Su Hija

Me llamo Soraya.

No había ambulancias.

No tengo cómo pagarles.)
• Necesidades básicas — $1.000 (No tengo ropa, no tengo teléfono, no tengo documentos, no tengo nada.)
