Help Sparks, Fang, and Deiren Escape Florida!

Hi, my name is Leon (many of you know me as Sparks Raccoon) and I'm creating this GoFundMe to help with Fang's (you may know him as Shush) medical bills and expenses and to get me, him, and Deiren out of this state! As some of you may know, I was laid off a couple of months ago and ever since we have been struggling financially. We only stayed in South Florida because this company hired me but as soon as I helped get things stabilized they got rid of me with no notice, leaving us trapped in an expensive lease. They wouldn't even pay out my vacation time (against company policy). Unfortunately, Florida has very few worker protections.

Due to Fang working for an out-of-state company, his medical insurance has very few in-network providers here and our medical debt is increasing out of control. He's unable to eat most of the time and any food he is able to force himself to eat leaves him in, more times than not, excrutiating pain. The stress of trying to coordinate the move and his sickness has been effecting not only his mental health but his ability to work. We're still trying to find out exactly what is wrong, but the diagnostic procedures are expensive and take forever to get scheduled. In addition to several emergency room visits over the past few months, there have also been X-Rays, CT Scans, Bloodwork, and an endoscopy trying to figure out what's wrong. All of that adds up very quickly when insurance barely covers anything.

On top of medical bills, housing and other expenses are ridiculous where we live... Our rent alone is astronomical and on top of that electricity and other utilities are another whole paycheck a month not to mention car, insurance, gas, food, etc... Florida's politics at the moment also make it feel like the walls are closing in even more on anyone who is a member of the LGBT community. Recent laws that have been passed in this state will only serve to embolden the bigotry and hate that we've worked so hard to overcome. Individuals with hate in their hearts and violence on their minds will feel justified in carrying out awful crimes because they think the governemnt itself agrees with them. Things are getting scary.

We need to get out of this state for safety, for peace, and for a reasonable cost of living. We will be moving to Oklahoma on June 28th (17 days from the time I'm writing this). Overall, our living expenses will be less than half of what they are here.

We've been able to borrow enough from friends and family to cover rent while I've been out of work and to pay our lease transfer fee and first moth's rent for the new place in Oklahoma. But all other bills have been going unpaid and we're not sure how to afford the moving truck to get our stuff from here to Oklahoma. We've looked at every option and the minimum cost we've come up with to transport our stuff and ourselves is about $3000. It's not cheap to move a house full of stuff 1,500 miles. We've borrowed everything we can and bank loans are not an option becasue our credit has suffered due to all of the other unpaid bills.

We're asking for your help today to improve our situation and hopefully get our lives back on track in a new environement that will be more conducive to meeting our life goals. Anything you can spare is aprrecaited more than we can express. Thank you!
