Spay Neuter Rescue Worcester Cats
Donation protected
I started this fundraiser last spring with the goal of helping out a specific cat colony in Main South. I was able to rescue 14 kittens from this site. They have since been adopted out through local rescue groups. Six of the adults were TNRed (trap, neutered, returned). I also opted to help get owned indoor/outdoor cats fixed as well. Since fixing the cats in this area, the population has become stable.
However, it soon became clear that many other cats in Worcester needed help. Our funds helped spay and neuter two cases of cat hoarding on Bell Hill. One home had a litter of 4 kittens, a group of older kittens, and 7 adults. The other home had 20 cats! All of these cats were friendly and adoptable. The spay/neuter services helped to get them into good rescues.
Lately, I have been helping with stray cats on Grand Street. I was able to get 5 cats off the streets so far.
Ever since COVID, spay/neuter services have become limited. There are low cost options, but those costs add up. Second Chance offers a special program for feral cats - $45 for spay/neuter, vaccines, flea treatment, and ear tip. https://https://www.secondchanceanimals.org/s-n/.
There is a real need for TNR and rescue services in our city. This is a small scale effort, but together we are making a positive impact on the well being of needy cats and kittens.
