Help Spectrum Academy with iPads

Tax deductible

This GoFundMe campaign has been created by the Martin Jahnsen Foundation for the benefit of the Spectrum Academy, the first and largest charter school for kids with disabilities, in Utah.

The Spectrum Academy started in 2006 when a group of parents frustrated with the educational opportunities available for students with autism, took it upon themselves to ensure the academic success of their children.  After years of hard work, sacrifice and sheer determination, they opened the doors of the first charter school in Utah dedicated solely to the academic, behavioral and social success of students with Asperger’s Syndrome and high-functioning autism. The academy is the premier charter school in Utah for students with high functioning autism and others who would benefit from their unique learning environment. They provide small class sizes, with individualized instruction and innovative social skills curriculum. We help students reach their fullest potential academically, socially, and emotionally, leading to productive and successful futures.

The Martin Jahnsen Foundation was started in honor of Martin Jahnsen who passed away.  He was a software engineer by trade, but loved to serve his community.  He wanted to do all he could to make someone else’s life better whether he knew them or not.  The mission of the nonprofit is to help those who have a need for technology in their lives, but who could not afford it.  Please visit us at www.themartinjahnsenfoundation.com to learn more.

In April The Martin Jahnsen Foundation partnered with the Spectrum Academy in hopes of finding ways to support the technology needs of the students.  This GoFundMe campaign was created to help the Spectrum Academy with those needs.  If the goal of $1000 is reached it will help add 5 equipped iPads to the Academy which is a very useful tool for the students.  Any amount over the initial $1000 will do even more good for the Spectrum Academy and their technological needs.

The iPad is such an amazing tool for students at the academy.  At The Martin Jahnsen Foundation we heard story after story from teachers and parents about the changes they have seen in their students and children thanks to the iPad.  There have also been many reports in the media and studies done by leading universities to the effectiveness of iPads to children with disabilities, delays and lower functions.  A few articles are attached, but The Martin Jahnsen Foundation has been involved with giving iPads for some time and we believe that the iPad is one of the best ways to support children who need a little extra.

The goal of The Martin Jahnsen Foundation and this campaign is to help fund the technological needs of the students who could benefit from it at the Spectrum Academy.  Your donation would be used to that effort with 100% of your donation going to the Spectrum Academy.  The Martin Jahnsen Foundation will cover the 8% processing fee required to run this campaign up to $5,000 in campaign donations.

Thank you for your time and interest in this campaign and remember that every social media share counts just as much as every single dollar donated so feel free to share this with your friends and families.
