Help Spencer MA Firefighter & His Family

Please donate to help Patrick “Pat” Murray and family. A Spencer, Massachusetts Firefighter who instead of fighting fires is now battling a massive brain tumor and for his life.

Last week, Pat Murray and his father John Murray were on a family trip in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania when things took a tragic turn. On Friday night, Pat was rushed by ambulance from their hotel room. He was complaining of an extreme headache with excruciating pain near his right temple. After a CAT scan, they determined that he has a tumor the size of a fist pushing against his brain. The doctors have determined that he will be needing immediate emergency surgery to remove the tumor off his brain. (He is currently in surgery now at Wellspan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania)

Yesterday, Pat’s girlfriend Christine Vezina and Pat’s mother Eugena Murray took the 7 1/2 hour drive to be by his side. They are going to be staying in hotel rooms until he is stable enough to be eventually (hopefully) transported to Dana-Farber Cancer Center in Boston.

This is a battle our family has had to fight before with Pat. Patrick was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma Cancer at the age of 21. He'd been having pain in his side assumed to be a cracked rib. Then eventually was found unresponsive. He was in treatment and chemo for about 2 years. The tumor had invaded so much of his lung they had to shrink it with chemo. They then went through a process of surgeries, first taking additional biopsies, then going back and removing 4 ribs, among other things. Afterward, he needed an additional surgery to stabilize his stomach (it flipped upside down from all the changes). Then additional chemo. He fought through chemotherapy and eventually was found to be cancer free. We are very concerned that the tumor found in his brain could possibly be cancerous.

We are asking for your help. We are completely unaware of how long Pat is going to be out of work or how long our family will be with him staying in hotel rooms. If you could please donate to help get Pat back on his feet or for his family to be able to get the assistance and care associated with his long recovery ahead. Not to mention the medical bills associated with 2 ambulance rides, brain surgery, and potential costs of relocating him to Boston. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
