Hi!
My name is Emilie Frias and I am a recent graduate of the University of Miami. In May 2023, I received my B.S.E.D in Community and Applied Psychology and Italian. I was awarded the highest honor, the Department Award for Scholarship by the School of Education and Human Development for my dedication, academic promise, and involvement in the University.
Over the course of my time at UM, I've explored my passions for teaching as a teaching assistant and First Year Fellow. I have expressed my devotion to psychology through the CAPS Major, my love for language with my Italian Minor, and my adoration for mentorship with Beyond the Horizons and Hairology. These experiences have helped me get one step closer to my ultimate goal of becoming an educator and psychologist.
I recently got accepted into the North American Language and Culture Assistants Program Auxiliares de Conversacion in Spain for the upcoming scholastic year! As a language assistant, I will be fulfilling the role of a cultural ambassador as I advance English language learning and mutual understanding through cultural exchange.
Teaching abroad has always been my dream, but it will take a village to make this transition possible for my family and myself. I decided to take this leap of faith because I have always dreamed of studying abroad but was not able to do so because of COVID-19. Through being a teaching assistant in classes like Intergroup Dialogue, I have learned the importance of conversation, knowledge, and diplomacy and I am ready to apply it to this opportunity in Spain. With your help, I hope to cover rent, airfare, and living expenses.
I hope to learn and absorb universal skills that will broaden my horizons and intelligence. My goal is to use this knowledge, cultural awareness, and language proficiency to be the best possible teacher and mental health counselor in New York City upon my return.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Let's come together to make this happen!
