Help Spread Kindness - Woman and Child Robbed

Donation protected
Hello!

I am trying to raise £500 for a lovely lady and her little boy who have been through a tough time lately and been let down by some awful people.

While shopping in Tooting I noticed a woman crying, she was all alone apart from a child in a wheelchair who also looked very upset.
When I asked her if she was ok, she broke down saying that she had just been robbed. She had taken £500 out of her account to buy her son some new clothes. Her bag was hanging over the handles of the wheelchair, someone had pickpocketed her purse and took the whole £500.
Not one staff member or passer by stopped to help or ask if she was ok, it’s really sad.
The shop wouldn’t offer any help and just told her to call the police. She had to take her distraught son back to the hospital where he is an inpatient and then called the police who have said they are investigating but there is pretty much no chance of her getting her money back.

It was such an upsetting thing to see. I walked away from her feeling disgusted that someone could do this to anyone, let alone to an unwell child in a wheelchair.
I couldn’t stop thinking about this poor woman and her son and haven’t been able to sleep since.

So….. this morning I sat and called around the children’s wards at St George’s Hospital. No one could help but I left my number in the hope that someone would know her and call me back.

I just received a call from this woman and couldn’t help but burst into tears, I was so pleased to find her and offer her support in any way.
She would like to remain anonymous and said that she didn’t want to ask for money from anyone and was very emotional at my suggestion to try and raise money for her and her son.
She explained her situation to me, that she is unable to work as she cares for her son in hospital, who recently developed a rare illness that has stopped him from being able to walk.

It seems like they have been through such a lot recently, their whole world has changed and then to get robbed like this is horrendous. On the phone the lady cried to me and said I don’t know why all these bad things are happening to me??

On the day that she was robbed, her son cried and told her not to worry. That he doesn’t need clothes and that they will be ok without the money. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.
I would love to show this woman and son some kindness, that not everyone is bad and that there are good times coming.

Please donate anything you can.

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who has donated, we have smashed the target and have made a mother and little boy very happy!
I met this woman spontaneously when she was robbed, we have now became friends and speak regularly.  I will be withdrawing these funds in to my personal bank account and will be delivering them to the family at their home in person in cash as soon as they are cleared. They are overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness.

Thank you!
