Help Me Keep Shogi's Restaurant open
Save Shogi’s Japanese, serving the Westbury community for 33 years!
Hello, my name is Rosine Boehme and I am fundraising for my dear friend Yuko Amano, the owner of the well-loved family run Shogi Japanese Restaurant on Old Country Road, Westbury, NY.
Yuko arrived in New York in the 1970s and opened her restaurant in 1988. Since then, Shogi's has become a staple among Japanese expats and in later years, with the locals of Westbury.
With the onset of the Pandemic, Yuko sadly had to lay off most of her staff but has managed to stay afloat thanks to her regular customers. However, she has fallen behind on rent and is on the verge of losing her restaurant, and livelihood. Funds are urgently needed to settle the rent and re-employ her dedicated staff.
Yuko has served her base and welcomed many new customers with her usual enthusiasm and great sense of humor. Her strength is rooted in her strong family values and compassion for all.
I am appealing to all for your assistance to Yuko, through a donation or by stopping by her establishment for a hearty meal and for a big laugh.
Thank you all. Rosine.
