Help Us Support Srikant: A Friend Who Deserves the World

Last week, when Srikant commented on one of my Facebook posts saying he had liver cancer and needed help, I thought it was one of his pranks. But after talking to him, I discovered it was true. Srikant has been fighting for his life for over a month now, battling complications from a laparoscopy to remove a tumor. Excessive bleeding, blocked intestines, scar tissue, and severe lung issues have left him in the S-ICU.

When I spoke to him, his words broke my heart:
“Please, I need help. And you guys… enjoy life. I’m not sure how long I will survive.” I was devastated.” - Anu, a close friend

Now, Srikant needs our help.Together, a few of us have formed a GoFundMe to support him and his family through this crisis.

Why Your Support Matters:

Pay Out-Of-Pocket Insurance Expenses for 2024-2026
Pay Non-Covered Rehab Expenses to Preserve Standard of Living
Support All Monthly Expenses Due to Loss of Pay and Potential Employment
Ensure a Buffer to Sustain Through the Long Recovery Ahead

Let’s help Srikant the way he’s helped so many—without hesitation, with open hearts, and with all the love he deserves.

Please read on for those interested in Srikant’s character and presence in our lives.

“I first met Srikant at our mutual friend Deepa’s home. Until then, he was just my husband Ravi’s coworker and tennis buddy. But that evening changed everything—I discovered a man whose humor could light up any room and whose kindness could warm the coldest of hearts. Srikant and I didn’t hit it off immediately, but somehow, he brought out the funniest side of me, and we quickly became partners in crime—whether it was people-watching, sharing harmless gossip, or simply laughing at life’s quirks.

But Srikant is so much more than his humor. He was the one who believed in me when no one else did. When I was doubting myself, unsure if going back to grad school was the right choice, Srikant’s unwavering confidence in my abilities pushed me forward. That belief changed my life. He is incredibly intelligent, deeply kind, and unfailingly generous.

Srikant and Ravi have shared their own special bond, too. They quit their jobs together, took the leap into new careers, and even became roommates for six months—a time filled with laughter, challenges, and the kind of friendship that only deepens with time.

Srikant’s selflessness is legendary. When I was pregnant for the first time, he was overjoyed for me. He was one of those rare friends who showed up—truly showed up. He made me laugh when I needed it most and reminded me that I was never alone. On the day he heard that I was expecting, he surprised me with two beautiful gold bracelets—one of the most beautiful gifts I’ve ever received. He brought me fresh carrot juice every day at work, looked after me during a trip to New York, and supported me through every mood swing with patience and care—even more than my own husband at times! That’s who Srikant is: someone who goes above and beyond for the people he loves.

What makes Srikant extraordinary is his big heart. He’s the kind of friend who listens without judgment, encourages without envy, and celebrates your wins as if they were his own. Ravi and I could tell him anything—anything—and never feel anything but loved and supported. Srikant has always been more than a friend to both of us—he’s been a supporter, a guide, and a light in our darkest moments.

A few years ago, Srikant opened up about his beautiful love story with Janaki, and he made a few of us all a part of it. We even created a Facebook group called “Chennai Express” to follow their journey, feeling like we were witnessing something magical. Srikant has always had this gift—taking simple events in life and seeing the magic behind them—while adding some mirch, masala in good measure! It was clear to everyone how deeply Srikant loved Janaki. When they married, Srikant embraced her two children as his own, showing the depth of his love and generosity.

He has always been the first to call when someone was in trouble, often offering help to people he barely knew. That’s the kind of heart he has—boundless and giving.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. Let’s rally around Srikant like he has done for so many.
