Help Officer (Delvin) White Get his Job Back
Donation protected
Greetings, My name is Delvin White I am a 41- year- old father of 5 and an 8-year veteran of the Tampa Police Department. I truly enjoyed serving my community as a School Resource Officer at Middleton High School (a historically black school). I was able to relate to the students in a way that others couldn’t or wouldn’t. I would often go above and beyond the call of duty, I have purchased lunches for those in need, much-needed sports equipment, assistance with college trips, and guidance to the young men and women of the community who may otherwise have been overlooked.
On 3/2/2021 I was fired from TPD for using a racial slur. While I admit that I did say the N-Word, it was certainly not intended to be or taken as a racial slur. To be clear I do not condone racism in any manner, But my words were taken out of context. None of the parties involved in the incident remembered the use of the word, took offense, or filed a complaint. The word was said in context and used in a familiar manner as a way to relate to one another.
One could certainly understand the issue may warrant a punishment of sorts, however, it is certainly not a cause for immediate termination. While saying the “N” word in a professional setting may be deemed as unprofessional or unbecoming of an Officer, termination is considered quite excessive as I have received NO other violations of this kind.
I am seeking your help during this difficult time. Any amount of help is truly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
