Help Stacie Shadow a TV Director in Toronto

Hi, I'm Stacie Hawkins, an indie filmmaker and screenwriter living in the Los Angeles area. I have the awesome opportunity to shadow an amazing television director as they direct an episode of a new series. The show shoots in Toronto and I will need to be there from late November 2024 to the beginning of February 2025. Although I'm not allowed to say the name of the show right now, I can say that it is for a major studio streamer.

By day, I work as a Substitute Teacher in the Los Angeles public school system. It's rewarding work but doesn't pay enough for me to travel to Toronto for a few months. Shadowing doesn't pay and I won't be able to earn an income while I'm there. Donations will go towards not only my travel and living expenses in Toronto but will also help me keep my apartment in Los Angeles by paying rent and bills there (my lease doesn't allow subletting).

As an indie filmmaker looking to break into TV directing, shadowing is the first major step toward that goal. Many current television directors started their careers by shadowing. As a shadow, I will get to be a fly on the wall as I learn all the ins and outs of directing an episode of television from prep to post. These opportunities are rare and I plan to make the most of it.
