Help Disabled Mother in Skilled Nursing Center

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Stacy. I am 48 years old and I have a 14 year old daughter. In January 2012, I fell and broke my right wrist. After 7 surgeries, rods and pins, my hand is unusable. I came to terms with my disability over time and was coping using my left hand.

My life was going well until October 2018 when I was hospitalized with inflammation in my stomach that caused me to vomit blood. I was previously diagnosed with gastroparesis, scoliosis and spinal stenosis. The hospital stay caused weakness on my right side and I was unable to walk. After a week, I was transferred to a Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. I was approved for 90 days of physical therapy and occupational therapy. After 3 weeks, I fell and broke my left hand. After the cast was removed, my tendons and ligaments had tightened to the point I could not use my hand. With physical therapy, I gained some use of my left hand. This left me unable to walk and limited use of my hands.

It is now April 2022, my daughter lives with my wonderful parents. I am still living in The Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center (3 1/2 years now ). I have missed 4 of my daughters birthdays (her 13th was the hardest ), 4 Family Christmas’ and many other family holidays, birthdays, parties and reunions.

I survived Covid-19 twice, not seeing my daughter for 13 months and being confined to my room due to Covid-19 for many months.

The hardest thing (besides not seeing my daughter) is not having money to buy her gifts, clothes, or anything she needs and/or wants. I am unable to buy clothes, toiletries or snacks (without relying on my family) for myself. Social Security Disability allows me $52 a month but that doesn’t go far. Most of the burden lies on my parents/sisters to buy everything that we need.

I would love to be able to buy my daughter Easter this year without relying on my parents. I would also like to be able to buy a few things that I need without asking for my parents help.

I love my daughter more than anything. The heartbreak I feel of not being able to buy her something she needs or asks for is beyond painful!

Please open your hearts to donate even the smallest amount. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done but if it brings a smile to my daughter’s face, that is all that matters!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Stacy ❤️
