Help Stacy's Family with Medical and Funeral Costs

It is with heavy hearts we share the news of Stacy Onnasis Moctezuma Resendiz peaceful passing on Sunday 29th 2024 from Invasive squamous cell carcinoma cervical cancer. Stacy leaves behind a beautiful 2.5 year old son Luca, husband, four younger siblings, and her parents. And now she rests in peace with her Heavenly Father.

Stacy’s story that she wanted told began in November 2020 when she enlisted as an active duty soldier in the United States Army. Her proudest individual accomplishment and eventually reaching the rank of Sergeant. While standing at only 4’9, she defied all odds and numerous injuries, such as a hip fracture and herniated disc, and completed her training in May 2021. During this time is when she faithfully married her husband, Jason Kim, on January 3rd 2021.

Shortly after, Stacy became pregnant with her son Luca Kim. Due to complications during pregnancy, Stacy along with her Army leadership made the decision to switch her to the Utah National Guard because Stacy always wanted to continue to serve her country in any capacity that was possible.

On April 30th 2022, Stacy’s entire world for the better changed when her son Luca was brought into this world. Anyone that has ever met Stacy knew being a Mother and having a baby boy was her greatest wish. It was at this time that we can all proudly say Stacy found genuine happiness and the missing piece to her purpose in life.

Stacy was an amazing loving mother. The unconditional love she showed to her son was not only admirable, but also inspiring to all those she met who shared the same bond of motherhood.

Unfortunately, her world was forever changed on January 17th 2023 when we received the devastating news that the pain she was experiencing post partum was not only cancer, but stage 3C Cervical Cancer. This day marked the beginning of her 621 day battle with the vicious disease. However, that did not stop Stacy from continuing to live and power through by sheer will and determination. During this time Stacy joined the Counterdrug Task Force unit at the Utah National Guard. While undergoing treatment she felt her commitment to fulfill her duty as a soldier and continued to report to duty until her body physically no longer allowed her to.

Since then Stacy was in and out of multiple hospital visits and extended hospital stays as she continued to fight for her life to have one more day and create as many memories and experiences with her son and family. But the battle is now over.

Stacy was known for her vibrant spirit, infectious joy, and unwavering strength. She was a loving wife, a proud mother, and a dedicated soldier who was proud to serve her country. Her fierce love for her entire family fueled her determination against this disease, as she held on to every moment she could with them. Even if you've only briefly crossed paths with her, I'm sure you've felt the bundle of joy and her positivity that we will all miss.

We are asking for support to help ease the financial strain that unfortunately comes with this unimaginable loss. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated and will go directly toward covering hospital bills, funeral costs, and ensuring Luca has the support he needs.

Con gran pesar compartimos la noticia del fallecimiento en paz de Stacy Onnasis Moctezuma Resendiz el domingo 29 de 2024, a causa de cáncer cervical. Stacy deja atrás a un hermoso hijo de 2 años y medio, Luca, a su esposo, a cuatro hermanos menores y a sus padres. Ahora Stacy descansa en paz con su Padre Celestial.

La historia que Stacy quería que se contara comenzó en noviembre de 2020 cuando se enlistó como soldado en servicio activo en el Ejército de los Estados Unidos. Su mayor logro personal fue alcanzar el rango de Sargento. A pesar de medir solo 1.45 metros, desafió todas las probabilidades y numerosas lesiones, como una fractura de cadera y una hernia discal, y completó su entrenamiento en mayo de 2021. Durante este tiempo, se casó fielmente con su esposo, Jason Kim, el 3 de enero de 2021.

Poco después, Stacy quedó embarazada de su hijo Luca Kim. Debido a complicaciones durante el embarazo, Stacy, junto con sus líderes del Ejército, decidió transferirse a la Guardia Nacional de Utah, porque siempre quiso seguir sirviendo a su país en cualquier capacidad posible.

El 30 de abril de 2022, el mundo de Stacy cambió para mejor cuando su hijo Luca llegó a este mundo. Cualquiera que haya conocido a Stacy sabía que ser madre y tener un niño era su mayor deseo. Fue en este momento cuando todos podemos decir con orgullo que Stacy encontró la felicidad genuina y la pieza faltante de su propósito en la vida.

Stacy fue una madre amorosa increíble. El amor incondicional que mostró a su hijo no solo fue admirable, sino también inspirador para todos aquellos que compartieron con ella el vínculo de la maternidad.

Desafortunadamente, su mundo cambió para siempre el 17 de enero de 2023 cuando recibimos la devastadora noticia de que el dolor que experimentaba posparto no solo era cáncer, sino cáncer de cuello uterino en etapa 3C. Ese día marcó el inicio de su batalla de 621 días contra esta cruel enfermedad. Sin embargo, eso no impidió que Stacy siguiera viviendo con voluntad y determinación. Durante este tiempo, Stacy se unió a la unidad de la Fuerza de Tareas Contra las Drogas en la Guardia Nacional de Utah. Mientras recibía tratamiento, sintió el compromiso de cumplir con su deber como soldado y continuó reportándose hasta que su cuerpo ya no se lo permitió físicamente.

Desde entonces, Stacy estuvo entrando y saliendo de múltiples visitas y estadías prolongadas en hospitales mientras luchaba por vivir un día más y crear tantos recuerdos y experiencias como pudiera con su hijo y su familia. Pero la batalla ha terminado.

Stacy era conocida por su espíritu vibrante, su alegría contagiosa y su inquebrantable fortaleza. Fue una esposa amorosa, una madre orgullosa y una soldado dedicada que se sentía honrada de servir a su país. Su amor feroz por toda su familia alimentó su determinación contra esta enfermedad, aferrándose a cada momento que pudo con ellos. Incluso si solo cruzaste caminos brevemente con ella, seguramente sentiste su energía y positividad, que todos extrañaremos.

Estamos solicitando apoyo para aliviar la carga financiera que lamentablemente viene con esta pérdida inimaginable. Cualquier contribución, por pequeña que sea, será profundamente apreciada y se destinará directamente a cubrir las facturas hospitalarias, los costos del funeral y asegurar que Luca tenga el apoyo que necesita.
