Help Stan & Berta Recover after the Eaton Fire
Donation protected
I am Sabrina Sosa and I am raising funds for my parents, Stan (85 years old) and Berta (83 years old), who lost everything they own in the Eaton Fire last week. Berta is in hospice care near Pasadena, and Stan rented a little bungalow in Altadena so that he could visit her every day.
Their lives have been focused on serving the community. Stan and Berta started the Lalo Guerrero School of Music @ Art in the Park for children to receive free music education, which they believed would help disadvantaged youth make it to college. Recently, Stan moved all of their belongings and treasures into his Altadena bungalow. Gone forever are their photos rich with memories from their family and adventures. A stunning art collection featuring pieces by iconic artists that they knew and loved, such as Beto de la Rocha, Carlos Almaraz, Frank Romero, Gilbert Lujan, and Robert Graham (among others).
Berta will never again see her deeply loved curated collection of Mexican textiles, hand-embroidered, hand-woven fabrics that are simply one of a kind - a collection over 40 years in the making. Stan paid rent for this bungalow a year in advance so that he wouldn't miss a payment because he has so much to manage as Berta prepares to depart from this world to the next. His health has been troublesome as well, but at least he had a place to rest that wasn't too far from Berta.
I would like to get him enough money to help him find a new place that he can feel safe and comfortable and have the peace of mind to not be counting every penny on top of everything else. And of course, Uber money to visit Berta.
