Help Stanley P. Tucci Get Life-Saving Surgery

Meet Stanley P. Tucci. We fell in love with him from the moment we saw his picture online at the Bakersfield Animal Shelter, and we knew he was meant to join our family. We are asking for your help to cover the cost of his life-saving surgery after learning our pet insurance doesn’t cover this type of illness.
We thought we hit the lottery when his adoption fee was dropped to $10. He came home and quickly assimilated into our home, becoming fast friends and snuggle buds with our other dog, Harley, and taking his rightful place on the couch. What we didn’t know was that he was born with a portosystemic shunt, also known as a liver shunt. This is a vascular anomaly that allows blood to bypass the liver and flow directly into the heart, meaning his body wasn’t able to process his food, and he was essentially being poisoned with every meal.
This began our monthly ER visits to get medication, a prescription diet, and an eventual surgery just 2 months after coming home. He has been the BRAVEST boy and is beloved by every vet we have visited.
Between the overnight stays, medication, and diagnostics the costs started to add up quickly. The surgery itself totaled to nearly $10,000 as they repaired the shunt and monitored him for 3 days in hospital afterwards. We are so grateful to our amazing team of vets and technicians, but the bills are definitely beginning to pile up.
Some Good News: He has officially been cleared to return to normal activities, and his spunky personality is back and stronger than ever!
