Help Support a bird (avian) Shelter - Sydney

Hey!

I'm Jonas. I’m a year 12 student, due to that I have been given the challenge and freedom of a major work by my school located in Dural, NSW. After much consideration I have settled on the idea of building and creating an avian shelter located in the Lower Hawkesbury (possibly a registered non-for-profit).

Throughout my life I have built multiple aviaries and taken in birds that unfortunately couldn't be looked after by their original owners. This is why I believe I have the needed experience, knowledge, and passion to confront this idea of mine.

My idea is to create a 3m x 6m aviary for the rescue birds to live in. Each bird will be given a 1m x 1.5m holding aviary, and each day will be let out to freedom the 6m x 1.5m flight aviary.

I will also be creating two other holding aviaries in an existing shed to allow for a quarantine zone as to not risk birds in care upon arrival on a new rescue.

Below I will link photos of plans and a quote I have written for where the money raised will be going. All money raised for the Shelter will only be used to improve the shelter.

This is still an idea and I'm and seeking funding before I begin construction, so I know how big I can go, and if my idea is even feasible. I am wanting funding by the end of December, this will give me enough time to change my plans/ideas before I need to present my proposal (beginning of February).

The dream is to create a lovely garden around the aviary and create a single car driveway so visitors are able to park their car and enjoy the beauty of birds and the alluring bush surrounds. Hopefully not only creating a safe place for all avian creatures, but also a place where people can escape from their busy lives and be at peace.

Hopefully in the years to come I will be able to expand my shelter to also take in native wildlife in need of help (marsupials, birds, reptiles ect...)
