Help Stay@Home Mom of 4, Jamila Attend Graduation

In life, challenges push us to levels we knew not. Recent events with the pandemic of COVID19 have caused us to endure changes and overcome to a higher level that we did not know we were capable of. I had to push to make changes in my four children’s academics and complete a dissertation in the middle of mourning my mother; while being served divorced papers to attain my final degree.
When the world gives you lemons, making lemonade became my way of pushing through the storm of 2020. My mother died in 2018, yet I was struggling to complete my studies. I failed the term she died. I had to push myself to get my head focused on completing the degree, reminding myself my mother referenced me as a doctor during our last visit. Each morning looking in the mirror was difficult, for it was her eyes I’d see. However, I told myself I would let nothing get in my way. The day came of me completing my task while fighting to not cry in between writing papers, and I learned their was discomfort in my marriage. I was served my first steppingstone of a divorce after completing all requirements for my dissertation.
2020 was one of the most uncomfortable years for me to face despite interruption after interruption: I completed my degree. My family and I have faced our own personal pandemic, yet we all learned a strength we knew not existed. While I am today fighting through a divorce, I can stand and say I am most proud of choosing myself to attain my degree and not giving up on my children to withstand completing the school year.
In honor of my achievements, I believe my mother would want me to attend the graduation ceremony. I know seeking donations is a stretch of a call but for me it is a childhood dream. I know my mother will be proud of me, for I would have shown her despite the odds against me; against this world, I am never giving up!
I am asking you, if you are willing and able please make a donation on my behalf as I pursue completing this task of walking across the stage, presented and honored for my accomplishments. It would help this stay at home mom of four, for over 20 years, complete this phase of my dream and for that I would be sincerely appreciative.
